My dinner party was a secret group meeting of the rich/famous where they are helicoptered into a zoo where they dine on exotic animals!

This is what I came up with,

I wanted the invite to seem secret and personal, so it measures only 3.5″ by 5.5″. The final product is printed as a small booklet and covered in a maroonish paper and hand bound with a needle and thread.

The books I chose were A Clockwork Orange, In Cold Blood, and Hells Angels.

These are three awesome books and I wanted to do something really cool with them; I decided to attempt to make their covers look like a vintage cloth cover with no sleeve over it.

To do this, I scanned in the front cover of an old book I had laying around and in Photoshop, I basically just built a flat cover (including the spine) from that original front cover. I created my illustrations in Illustrator and applied them to the covers.

THEN, I purchased some super shitty books that were the same size as my covers from the thrift store for about 3 dollars and mounted my covers over the originals!

When I was all finished, I wanted to include them all together as a pack (also I didn’t have any description of the books anywhere on them) so I designed a band that would hold the three books together. This band was printed on vellum and wrapped around the books.

After a ton of hard work and hoouuurs of my time, I eventually finished this project. Everything is packaged in a nice maroonish coloured envelope which I hand made and tied with twine. It even has a tiny little cursive “L” made from maroonish lint hanging in a clear display baggy from the twine. Inside the Envelope are these printouts which are perforated, and one of them can be popped out to create a small papercraft dryer!

Besides the poster and the papercraft dryer, there are two sheets which contain lint letters that can also be popped out and housed inside the dryer.

I don’t have any pictures of the envelope (it looked good, trust me) because I turned it in for my sophomore portfolio review and they opened it all up and I don’t feel like tying it all together again at this point.

But that’s pretty much it! It took me FOREVER, but It turned out awesome and I got an A on it…so that’s rad.

These will be printed double sided so that you can see “though” the screen at the backwards letter.

This is proving to be much harder than I had hoped but I’m working on it!

I’m going to be designing it in such a way that the promo materials will be sent out in a flat-pack.

Included in the pack will be information about the typeface, photo samples (letter shaped lint stuck to things), possibly 26 cards with a letter on each, and a papercraft model of a dryer.

Hopefully it will all come together in the end, in a clean and professional way.

The trick with this particular poster is that by folding it, it become mailable!

My poster fold in such a way that it reads “FU” on the front..which…I thought was fun. It is tied shut with twine, but once untied, there are two red arrows (made from the shape of the “A” in Futura) when you pull the arrows in the direction which they point, the poster unfolds to reveal the rest of the name of the typeface. FU TU RA!

I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out.

This is a periodical about bikes, recycling bike parts, and just bike culture in general.

Its dimensions are about 5×8″ (so as to cut production costs and be easily transported) and is meant to be printed on ivory toned recycled paper.
